Client Story: Nurse Meg

Lifeless landing pages are. the. worst.

And Meg—Nurse Meg—was doing everything she could to avoid having her sales page copy fall flat. Yet—it still didn’t feel like enough.

She doesn’t possess a single salesperson bone in her body. So… how was she supposed to find the words to make her sales pages feel alive?

Overwhelmed & feeling like she was climbing up a sand dune both ways (she lives in FL so it feels wrong to say “hill”)—Meg kept trying. Writing more words. And trying some more.

“I know nursing but I don’t know marketing!”

Nurse Meg

One day, a copywriter critiqued her sales page in a group training session.

The feedback was… less than ideal, so she asked around for a copywriter who could help. Her first message to me went a lil something like this:

“I’m in the Rick Mulready accelerator coaching program and you were recommended!”

-Nurse Meg

That was the most beautiful day the funnest friendship (& business partnership) was born! We knew we wanted to work together in that first meeting.

I’m interrupting myself here because—that first meeting with Meg happened on one of the crappiest days in 2021.

On this day, my mom was in surgery. And it was incredibly refreshing to be chatting with a nurse at that moment. A kind-hearted, caring, special human. I’ll forever be grateful to her.

Throughout our time working together, Nurse Meg kept checking in on my mama. She is a Gem, people. Ok… back to her story!

Nurse Meg reached out to me with Quite a story.

“I have over 500k followers on Tik Tok & my email list is over 10k—but I’m not sure how to market to or nurture them!”

Nurse Meg

She’d grown a following on Tik Tok of over 500k followers, an email list of over 10k people, & she wanted to optimize her existing funnel.

The Funnel:

→ landing pages for her free new nurse & nursing student resources

→ email welcome sequences (once said nurses had download the aforementioned free resources)

→ sales pages for her paid courses

After that first meeting—as is the case with all my potential clients—I crafted & sent out a custom copy proposal. The proposal always includes project details like the:

  • Deliverables

  • Timeline

  • Cost

Since she really wanted to improve her sales page copy & marketing strategy and see her email sequence start to make her some dolla dolla bills, Nurse Meg’s project included:

○ Landing Page Copy (7 pages)

○ Email Welcome Sequence (5 emails)

○ SEO Research & Strategy Packet

○ Voice-of-Student Research & Interviews

Once the proposal is approved, the boring business-y part happens—the contract & invoice are sent out.

Then—we party like it’s 1999—just like Prince advised.

In the Kickoff Call—

We covered the best ways to communicate with each other, prioritized the project pieces, & Nurse Meg informed me that menstruation truly does cause the blood in your body to leave your brain… & collect elsewhere. Who knew?!

(Have I mentioned I love learning SO many new things from my clients?)

Now… Meg informed me during our Kickoff Call that she loves being kept informed throughout the process.

(At the time I told her it was a special talent of mine, but it’s a whole nother thing to actually experience someone keeping in touch with you during a project.)

Nurse Meg says, "Ahh! I love every single one of the email sequences!"

(Evidence of her love of the constant communication)

She’d had previous service providers go radio silent on her (which is not unheard of, unfortunately). We talked weekly & had a few face-to-virtual-face meetings before the project wrapped.

And when the project came to a close—Nurse Meg was blown away!

Meg went from not knowing how to sell herself or explain her product—to having her sales pages & emails doing the work for her!

And doing a darn good job, if I do say so myself. 😂

You should know something, though:

These copy assets are only able to do their jobs, when you’re doing yours.

What do I mean by that?

Nurse Meg shows up on social media CONSISTENTLY & does so as her FULL self. Your personality & intention go such a long way to helping your copy perform well. Thereby helping your business GROW!

When I asked her how her funnel is doing these days (just a few months after wrapping the project), this was her response:

“My course sales funnel was right around $4k a month.

After the funnel upgrade, it jumped to $9k a month!

So—the landing pages and email copy doubled my revenue! My opt-in conversion rate increased from 12% to 46%!

And the email sequence is converting at around 50%!”

–Nurse Meg

What should you take away from this client story?

Writing your own copy can feel REALLY hard. We’re often too close to our own work to be able to shed the best light on it—because we believe in it so so much!

Calling in help can be scary—but the investment (of trust & money)—will pay off so long as you keep showing up for your people with the same passion that got you this far.

To wrap it up, here’s my favorite piece of feedback from Meg:

“I cannot thank you enough! I love you Brittany!”

Nurse Meg

The feeling is mutual, friend. –B
